Full-time classes

Full-time classes are offered Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm.  This 35-week program uses a variety of methods including hands-on learning, total physical response (TPR) and lecture style instruction.  The focus of our language program, is for students to be able to speak Cayuga therefore, students are involved in various speaking activities throughout the day.  We also have fluent speakers assisting us during class, to ensure accuracy in speaking and word usage.

We are currently teaching a full-time, year one program, in which students were able to begin the year, speaking very little Cayuga language.  The goal for our year one program is, for students is to become Intermediate level Cayuga language speakers (in accordance with ACTFL guidelines.)

In the past, we have also taught a full-time, year two program, in which students were required to be able to speak at the Intermediate level when they began the program.  The goal in our year two program, was to create Advanced level Cayuga language speakers (in accordance with ACTFL guidelines.)

For every class, there is an application process to become a student. Once successful applicants have been accepted into our program, the class is set until the next school year.

Part-time classes

From time to time, we offer evening classes at the beginner level.  These classes focus on students learning how to converse with one another.  Classes are often once a week for 12 weeks.
