Ben teaching

Ben Hill has been an instructor at Dwadewayęhstaˀ Gayogoho:nǫˀ for 6 years.  He began learning Cayuga language in the early 2000’s, with Winnie Thomas who taught beginner language classes, one night a week.  Ben also was fortune to attend a Master-Apprentice program (on a part-time basis) with Hubert Skye in 2006.  Ben became a student at D.G. during the 2009-2010 school year where he was able to learn on a full time basis for the first time.  During the 2010-2011 school year, D.G. ran a Master-Apprentice program in which Ben was fortunate to be able to work with Jim Styres and Hubert Skye on a regular basis, studying Longhouse speeches.  Ben began working full time at D.G. in 2013, working with various Cayuga speakers and continued to learning language.  He was fortunate to work on a project with Germaine Myke and created Cayuga language classes for the radio, with the help of the students at the time.  In 2016, Ben began teaching the subject of the Thanking Address assisted by the other instructors.  Currently, Ben teaches the Thanking Address as well as Longhouse speeches at D.G.
